Q: What is Mangoxan?
A: Mangoxan is a wonderfully delicious and nutritional juice supplement made from the exotic Mangosteen fruit (Garcinia Mangostana) and other pure fruit juices.
Q: What is a Mangosteen fruit?
A: The mangosteen fruit is native to the Southeast Asian countries (i.e. Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, and Indonesia). Nicknamed "The Queen of Fruits" by many, the mangosteen has been revered for centuries in folk medicine for its ability to help with infections, fatigue, skin conditions and many other different diseases.
The scientific name for the mangosteen is Garcinia mangostana L. The mangosteen is not related to the mango. Mangosteen fruit has a thick peel or hull. Inside the hull is a soft, white, and segmented fruit. The flavor of the fruit is uniquely sweet and appealing.
Q: Does Mangoxan have preservatives?
A: Prior to June 2004, our formulation contained Sodium Benzoate and Potassium Sorbate as preservatives.
However; in June 2004 we began using a new bottle in our new manufacturing facility which allows us to produce our product with no preservatives thanks to application of a vacuum-sealed Roll-on Pilfer Proof cap immediately after pasteurization.
Q: What is the shelf life of Mangoxan?
A: Two years from the date of manufacture. A "Best By" date is printed on every bottle reflecting that date. Once opened, and refrigerated, the product will stay fresh for up to 60 days.
Q: What is the ORAC score of Mangoxan?
A: A very respectable 27,448 -- a full 52% higher than XanGo! This ORAC score comes from an independent lab study by Brunswick Lab conducted May 27, 2004. The measurement standard for ORAC is in "micromoles of Trolox Equivalent per liter". Divide that number by 32 for the proper ORAC unit measure per ounce.
Q: What does ORAC mean?
A: ORAC is an acronym for Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity.
Oxygen radicals are chemicals that wreck havoc inside our bodies as they seek to cause damage to our cells through a process called oxidation. If our bodies can absorb and stop these oxygen radicals before they do damage, we are much better off.
One example of oxidation is rusting. When metal rusts it becomes weak and flaky and can no longer serve its function. A similar process also happens in your body. Just like rusting metal, the cells, tissues, organs, and other parts of your body can be made weak by oxidation which can lead to disease and illnesses.
In simple terms, ORAC is a way to measure how many oxygen radicals a specific food product can absorb. The more oxygen radicals a food can absorb, the higher its ORAC score and the better it is at helping our bodies fight diseases.
Q: What are Xanthones?
A: Xanthones are a unique biologically "active" compound. Active means they couple with other molecules and become very beneficial to the systems of the body. Xanthones enter the cell wall with antioxidants and can even kill intracellular bacteria before it has a chance to affect the cell's DNA.
Q: How does the Xanthone content of Mangoxan compare with other mangosteen-based supplements?
A: Independent lab testing is currently underway. We will post the results of this study in several weeks (late August/ early September) when testing is complete.
Q: What are the main differences between Mangoxan and other mangosteen-based supplements?
A: Rather than repeating the list here, see the bulleted list of differences on our Home Page.
Q: Does Mangoxan include the pulp, seeds, and pericarp of the mangosteen?
A: Mangoxan uses a puree of the mangosteen whole fruit including pulp and seeds -- the whole fruit portion that can be scooped out from inside the pericarp/hull of the fruit. We also use a "peel extract" containing high concentrations of Xanthones from the peel of the fruit. This extract is added into the juice as an ingredient during production. You'll see this on our label as Garcinia mangostana (Mangosten) Peel Extract. While other mangosteen-based juices add small amounts of the actual pericarp to their product as the "vehicle" to supply Xanthones, our utilization of more sophisticated methods of Xanthone extraction results in higher amounts of Xanthones in Mangoxan (independent study results pending), without all the "floaters" and "sludge" of ground-up, bitter pericarp in the drink.
Q: Where is Mangoxan formulated and produced?
A: Pure Fruit Technologies, LLC, is owned by Morinda Holdings -- parent company of Tahitian Noni International. We use the same manufacturing facility used to manufacture our sister company's world-renowned Tahitian Noni Juice. This state-of-the-art facility, located in American Fork, Utah, meets all the FDA guidelines known as GMP's (Good Manufacturing Practices) and is Kosher certified.
Q: Is the Mangosteen used in Mangoxan organic?
A: While there are many facets to a product being "organic", the farmers who produce the mangosteen we buy do not use pesticides to treat their crops.
