Mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana L)
Regarded as one of the most delicious fruits in the world, the mangosteen "Queen of Fruits" is native to the Malay Archipelago and Indonesia, but is now also grown in wet tropical regions throughout Southeast Asia. Mangosteen fruit has a thick peel or hull containing which is inedible but possesses abundant xanthones - highly potent antioxidants. Inside the hull is the soft white and segmented fruit. The mangosteen fruit has a distinctive sweet, slightly acidic strawberry flavor and contains a range of vitamins and minerals.
